Escambia County is approximately 1,000 square miles with an estimated population of nearly 38,000 people. Brewton became the county seat in the 1880s. Escambia County Sheriff’s Office works closely with the Poarch Tribal Police to enforce laws and eradicate drugs throughout the community.
“There are times that friendship doesn't go far enough. Sometimes, despite what we want to believe, it takes money to accomplish so many worthy goals. It’s difficult to get people to understand what an investment they need to make in their own community, and drug enforcement’s primary function in my life is saving people. Thankfully Poarch understands that and endorses it and embraces it.”
— Sheriff Grover Smith, Escambia County
