Picking Mayhaw berries is a southern tradition that has been passed through the generations of Lori’s family. As berries were methodically picked, stories were told, and heritage learned and preserved. The fruit bears itself once a year and is then transformed into a sweet and subtle jelly indigenous to Alabama. Lori learned from her mother and grandfather, and now shares the Mayhaw tradition with her daughter.
