William & Billy Bailey

Tribal Members

In the past, many Creek Indians were forced to abandon their religion, language, and traditions in the name of assimilation and survival. Today, William and Billy are passionate about keeping the Poarch Creek’s ceremonial culture alive. As the Meko of the ceremonial grounds, William teaches other Tribal members about their rich heritage. Both father and son believe it is important to lead by example as they show younger Poarch generations how learning about their past can help shape their identity and the world at large.
