Amber is determined to reclaim her Creek heritage for herself and her children. Her parents and grandparents were hardworking people who, like most Tribal members, were just trying to survive. During those years, traditions, crafts, language and stories were lost. Only in recent years, as Poarch has become more prosperous, have Tribal members had the opportunity to rediscover the missing links to their personal history. Amber shares with Colby, and her other children, the fulfilling process of participating in rituals and learning their roots. Amber’s quest for her lost heritage has unearthed unexpected jewels that have brought a sense of self-worth, dignity and wisdom.
