Wetumpka Fire Department provides services to over 20,000 residents through a combination of volunteer, part-time and full-time personnel to provide fire, EMS, and rescue services. Providing top-level fire protection for the community is costly with about 50 percent of the budget going to staffing and 50 percent to equipment. The department relies on contributions to keep its people safe.
“We see fire protection in our first responders as a key quality of life element. We invite people to come and participate in sporting and recreational events; and us being able to ensure that those people are safe, are cared for, that somebody responds to any incident or accident in a timely manner and provides professional services for those individuals is very important. Poarch’s contribution has enabled adequate personnel for responses.”
